Report: UAC mulls SJ-100 planes production at India's HAL plant
MOSCOW, Aug 15 (PRIME) -- Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) continues negotiations on possible production of Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SJ-100) planes at India’s plant Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), UAC CEO Yury Slyusar told Rossiya-24 TV channel on Tuesday.
“We still believe that in the import terms the HAL plant, which produces combat aircraft for the Indian Air Force… it is a large base, equipment and established processes. We could, in a relatively short period of time, start producing SJ-100 planes there for the Indian market,” he said.
Slyusar also said that the first flight of the import-substituted SJ-100 plane as part of its trials is expected in September. The jet will not be fully equipped with Russian components at this stage, he added.
UAC’s goal is to provide commercial deliveries of the plane in 2024, he added.
